Workshop : “Dementia in the Elderly”

A  community workshop titled “Dementia in the Elderly” was successfully conducted in 15^th June 2025 for individuals involved in elderly care services, including family caregivers. The event aimed to raise awareness and enhance skills in managing dementia-related conditions among the aging population.The session was led by Mr. Rasendiran, retired Matron of Base Hospital Tellipalai, who served as the resource person. His vast clinical experience and compassionate approach enriched the training.The workshop took place at AHEAD Preschool and Day Care Center, located at No. 40 Wyman Road, from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Participants received practical knowledge and hands-on training focused on:

• Understanding dementia and its progression
• Communication techniques with dementia patients
• Ensuring patient safety at home
• Stress management for caregivers

This session offered an excellent opportunity for community members and caregivers to strengthen their ability to care for elderly individuals with empathy, competence, and confidence.
